Confidence Clinics
Confidence Clinics are designed to help build positive experiences and teach your pet that they can be in control whilst being examined.
Many animals can dislike veterinary visits for a variety of reasons including pain, physical restraint, fear from travelling in the car, or exposure to other animals in the practice. Some have a genetic predisposition to anxiety, body handling, impulsivity and aggression making examination more difficult. Negative memories from when your pet has visited for a painful problem or undergone a painful procedure, can affect future feelings when visiting the vets known as operant learning.
Each Confidence Clinic will be tailored for the individual pet and can target a specific procedure such as injections, to plan for future treatments, optimising their welfare. Each session lasts for 30 minutes and costs £33, the frequency of the clinics can be adapted to your pets individual needs and owner schedule.
We advocate using cooperative care training and ideally this is started prior to any vet visit. This allows a two-way conversation with your pet so they can advocate for themselves, promoting confidence and resilience and preventing the need to feel fearful.
Please get in touch if you would like to know more about our Confidence Clinics and how they could help your pet.
